3. Central Australia is mostly desert. This is the largest part of Australia. Very little rain falls here. Most of this area gets less than 10 inches of rain per year!
Only the southeast and southwest corners along the coasts have a temperate climate. Summers aren’t too hot & winters aren’t too cold. The climate in these regions is the one that most Australians prefer. Most Australians live along the southeastern coast.

Sydney
Sydney is the largest and most populous city in Australia and offers a lot of interesting tourist locations. The most famous is, of course, Sydney opera house. It is designed by the Danish architect John Utzon. Tourists are allowed to see the backstage and the front of the house. Besides the Opera house, other tour destinations are the Hunter Valley Wineries, Harbour Highlights Cruises, Jenolan Caves, the marine aquarium at Darling Harbor and many others.
Cairns
Cairns is the main entry point for the Great Barrier Reef visits. The Great Barrier Reef is the largest coral reef in the world. It stretches for about 80 million acres along the North East Australian Coast. It is home to some of the world’s rarest sea organisms and here you have the opportunity to see them and observe them.

The Botanical Gardens
The Botanical Gardens are considered to have one of Australia’s best exhibitions of tropical plants, and the plant life here is strikingly different from what you may have seen in botanic gardens at cooler climates.
The Scenic Railway runs from Cairns to the nearby town of Kuranda, passing by incredible scenery such as the World Heritage-listed forest.
The railway was originally built over 120 years ago as a commuter railway and is now used as a tourist railway. The trip takes just under 2 hours one-way.

NATURAL ATTRACTIONS
BURLEIGH HEADS is a suburb on the Gold Coast. It is located in the middle between the southernmost Coolangatta and the northern beach of Surfers Paradise. The main tourist attraction of Burleigh Heads is a national park that contains wildlife and offers scenic bushwalks overlooking the coastline of the Gold Coast.
MT TAMBOURINE-
A 28 km² plateaux (8 km long by 4 km wide) in the Scenic Rim, Gold Coast Hinterland, southeast Queensland. It is well-known for walking tracks winding through rainforest regions and occasionally past cliffs or waterfalls. The most well-known ones are the Curtis Falls rainforest track and the Knoll.
Tamborine Mountain attracts a large number of tourists to "Gallery Walk" along Long Road, a street devoted to art galleries, cafes, and souvenir shops.
